Starting up a Wasteland Tanoa MySQL Database Help

« posted: Oct 08, 2016, 04:19 AM »
Hi,

I've been trying to start a Wasteland.Tanoa server for the past few days and I can't seem to get my SQL datebase to work. I can enter my TADST server and everything, but the sql won't work. I am still kinda new to all of this so please be reply in detail.

This is what I did:
I downloaded:
A)
   1) SteamCMD  ( i know how to run it)
   2) MySQL workbench
   3) Latest tanoa mission  (https://github.com/A3Wasteland/ArmA3_Wasteland.Tanoa)
   4) Latest release files https://github.com/A3Wasteland/Release_Files

B)
1) added ArmA3_Wasteland.Tanoa-Dev to mpmission file (removed -dev)

2) added (https://github.com/A3Wasteland/Release_Files/tree/master/A3Wasteland_settings) to the arma 3 server dictionary

3)added https://github.com/A3Wasteland/Release_Files/tree/master/extDB to the arma 3  server dictionary

3.1) deleted oldSQL , db_v2.04_to_v2.05.sq
l
3.2) added tbbmalloc.dll , extDB2.so, extDB2.dll and moved it to the extDB folder (i got this files from the A3W_extDB_pack.zip) i also replaced extdb-conf.ini from that zip

3.3) and replaced a3wasteland.ini, main_config.sqf from the A3W_extDB_pack.zip

C) My Edits or Settings
1)main_config.sqf from the A3Wasteland_settings folder
Code: [Select]
// Persistence settings
A3W_savingMethod = "extDB";      // Method used for saving data ("profile", "iniDB", "extDB")

// extDB settings
A3W_extDB_ConfigName = "A3W";      // Name of the connection config from extdb-conf.ini to be used (the one within [brackets])
A3W_extDB_IniName = "a3wasteland"; // Name of the INI file in extDB\sql_custom_v2 to be used

2)extdb-conf.ini from the extDB folder
Code: [Select]
[A3W]
Type = MySQL
Name = a3wasteland

Username = Vapr0
Password = vapor

IP = 127.0.0.1
Port = 3306

;minSessions = 2
idleTime = 60

compress = false
; Really should only use this if MySQL server is external. Also only for MySQL

Secure Auth = true

4) MySQL

5) TADST

6) When i start the TADST i can get it running fine. Getting into the server is OKAY. I changed the value of the money to spawn with also works, but when i look on my MySQL workbench Table is empty

I solved it. I had to move the extDB .dlls .so and ini to the server dictionary and add server permission to the schema
in mySQL. you can delete this topic

I am having some similar issues. When you say "dictionary" do you mean the root of arma? or something else? I have read all the read me's and important files but, I still can not seem to get my server to use the DB. I have a pretty nice dedicated box I am running vmware on with a few other game servers. None of them with SQL this stuff is still very confusing for me.

it was very confusing for me too. Yes, you want to put it in your root dictionary, where your a3wasteland and extdb.dll and extdb-config are.

future use, just say "Root Directory"  or for short "Root Dir" Webster makes dictionaries, not Arma directories :)

yeah, will do. this thread was originally just a question on how to fix it, but i solved it on my own. for some reason when i edit my posts, it won't edit it even tho i pressed edit and post. must be a bug.

I'm currently working on a tut  youtube video on how to install a wasteland.tanoa vanilla. the original instructions is too vague and not too informative on how to really set it up properly.

my video will contain: setting up steamCMD, SQL set up, TADST, extDB2 config and installing files

You don't need TADST, you can manually set up everything and use parameters. IMO adding another errhh "execution". if you will, or a 3rd party app, is redundant and can cause more headache in the future. I used to use it, but I learned more and felt I had more control w/o TADST.

@mokey
Well, for my dedicated server i use a custom made BEC that runs everything, and I use TADST to save the mods and any external files into my batch. I won't show this in my video since the person who made the .Bat for me doesn't want to publicly publish it, but i just want to keep it basic and simple.

I do use the TADST for faster testing my missions and coding before importing to my remote dedicated server, since eden scenario doesn't work with wasteland because Eden doesn't know how to find my init and extDB.dll / config and so on.

How do I add server permission to the schema
in mySQL?

I figured out how to do the permissions to the schema. Although my wasteland server still will not talk to mysql database. I have been trying for weeks now. Is there anyone willing to help me maybe even remote desktop in and see whats going on?

Thank you
