A3W admin fork/port

« posted: Apr 14, 2017, 11:05 AM »
Hi, @agentrev @joschaap and others members from A3W team.

I start my programming way one year ago aprox. I introduced in A3 programming with A3Wasteland, but after I migrates to other survival gamemode (where the community sucks).

Recently I started to practice with some dialogs and GUI editor. I take A3W admin as project to learn about dialogs.

I see to that @AgentRev grants permission to BAdmin to port the admin dialogs under LGPL instead of AGPL. This allows the piece of software to work with other projects without GPL license.

I will ask if I can made the same. I knows that I need the permission of all contributors but i'm not sure of who are. agentRev and [404] Deadbeat almost.

I think that the A3W admin tools is a good point for start editing. I think too that Arma 3 needs some admin tools fully open source and compatible with any mission framework. Allowing the permission to use for Mission Markers, server admins, etc.

I AM NOT DEVELOPER, everybody has warned! I'm a very advanced script kiddy learning to fast.

I'm not sure if I can reach my own goals, and what amount of time I can need, but if I publish as open, maybe other users helps to me or anybody can follow the work.

I paste some screens/ draws from the rework.

The port / fork is designed to work with A3 Vanila, but can be easily portable again to A3W or other game types or custom missions.

I do not push to Github for now, because is under unstable branch, but I can push before end if anyone will help to this project.

I search for Dev's aproval to relicense under LGPL instead of AGPL. Thanks.

Updated screens and very alpha, incompleted, unstable and unsecure nightly release.

Sure, you can use LGPL.

I like the concepts, but I'm not too enthusiast about the debug menu... No recoil, unlimited ammo? That sounds more like a cheat menu. I absolutely hate admins who cheat on their players, they are pure cancer to the Arma community as a whole.

I'm agree with your opinion and I'm not sure what options to release. How I say I made it for my own learning. I simply think about to return the code as good practice.

I hate the abuse of the admins. I do not play from much time ago because I'm bored about false accusations, rage and other related things.

The options shown are a challenge to prove my own knowdlege. I accept suggestions and I consider your opinion and from other experienced users.

I assume previously that you doesn't like the idea.  ;D

I use some of this functions for example to debug missions (I compley many missions much fast to check if the mission spawn sistem works fine, the random prizes are balanced, the random spawn of vehicles doesn't colide with buildings, etc.)

But you're right. Better console for these...

How debian says...

Code: [Select]
$sudo test

We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
    #2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

PS: Apologizes my english.

Edit: I'm not sure too if is better A or L GPL. I'd be happy to hear your opinion about to force GPL and forbid ports to closed source game modes.

I delete the polemic options and try some tests with dinamic dialogs :D

I can't set the Server View Distance ingame, seems to only works when the missions load the difficult options.

I will be glad to recieve suggestions and opinions about what I can add and what not.

I'm very happy. A year ago I doesn't know anything about programming and today I complete the development of all functions for GPL Admin.

Now i'm concluding the development, but I need more time for fix bugs, optimize netcode, securize functions, suport for profiles, etc.

If anyone will give to me his opinion about anything, suggest any change. Now is the moment.

Thanks for feedback
