Hey folks,

Sorry if infos and releases have been scarce during the past months, I've been busy with a lot of stuff including a new job, and other team members have been busy with life as well. Shoutout to Cael817 and others for preventing this forum from looking like a ghost town, and thanks to TPG and all players & server owners for supporting A3W.

Now, I've been hard at work during the past weeks on getting 0.9g done, which includes many fixes and new features, as well as a long-overdue rewrite of the saving system, with many more options for better fine-graining, which have been centralized in the main_config.sqf file in the A3Wasteland_settings folders, and inside the PBO at server\default_config.sqf. The changelog can be found here.

I know a couple of you have already been running the new version from the improvedPersistence branch, but for those who haven't caught up yet, I've just merged it back into the Development_main branch, as well as added the new config files, BattlEye config, and Altis PBO in the Release_Files repo. I will be porting the changes to Stratis during the following days, and most likely release a PBO in time for the Easter weekend.

As always, there are still many things down the road, including a revive system which I have been working on for the past days (I might need some people to help test it soon), a complete rewrite of the mission system, bounty hunting, and more.

Now, about the revive system, since it will basically break the default scoreboard, which was already not well suited for Wasteland, I will have to make a new one from scratch. I don't simply want to make a 1:1 copy of Sa-Matra's scoreboard, so I instead want to ask you what do YOU want to see on it. It can be anything, organized in any way you want, all players combined, separated by teams, you decide. Do a sketch in MS Paint if you want. I will try my best to combine all suggestions and make something that everyone can regard as relevant.

Great work with this, thanks. The improved persistence makes Altis worth playing at last. Revives would be handy, Bounties would be awesome and being able to lock and save bought vehicles would be great too.

The scoreboard isnt something that I pay much attention to (probably because I die a lot :) but I'll ask some of the guys that I play with about it.

Yeah I don't pay too much attention to the scoreboard too, but at least right now it's a good indicator of who's dominating in general, even if the scores are a bit borked up.

With the revive system, it will completely break the scores, which will essentially shuffle the list, so this is why making a new one is of higher priority than it was before.

i don't know if me spamming the forums was any good but thanks =).

I don't use the scoreboard very much either but i think that's because you don't get that much out of it and if it will get worse with the revive system we will need the a new one ;-).

One thought came to mind, is it possible to list the team-kills there ? or wont that work because of the indys?

I usually look at Gamtrackers scoreboard where played time an some kind of "score" is listed.

This is coming along nicely, thanks for you hard work, going to post up some wishes in the suggestions thread, vehicle locking and saving is one of them ;-).

As someone new to the game, and the mod, can someone explain exactly what all the fields on the scoreboard relate to? We have been having some arguments on ts, with guys having different interpretations, but we think we are pretty close.

Can we see a safe for money in a later version? It would be so great to have a tent or even storing your money in a vehicles that could be locked! Two ideas that would be really appreciated in the gamemode!

+ Ablility to store money
+ Lock vehicles

Sorry my ideas are not relevant to your topic. :(

ist already in ... get inidbi for saving and buy a warchest.... ist not a tent but you can save it.
also other user can hack your warchest and steal your Money if they find it.

lock vehicles is a bit of a problem i think cause if you need a good ruleset to delete the vehicles that are not in use to dont get the server flooded with millions of cars on the map.

i dont think you understand what he means. He is looking to lock vehicles so that nobody can access them so we can store our items/weapons in them. The vehicles we buy, should only be ours. Also a safe so that only we can access, a code or linked to our player id so we can actually go back and forth to use whats actually ours. Warchests are a waste of time as players can hack them and everybody in your team can use them. I dont like the fact we save up all our cash for some new spawn to be able to use it.

A lot fo the players on our server ask for saving of bought vehicles too.

As for the scoreboard, would it be difficult to track other player stats such as age of player on server, distance travelled, number of objects moved...ok maybe not that interesting but perhaps someone else has some ideas of other stats that could be tracked?

i understand what he wants but it will bring a lot of Problems with it.

lets go into the Szenario..

you buy a car only for you and it will be saved between restarts. first Problem what will come up is that you have some Areas with a lot of cars and all cars are locked. thats a small one. now about the save between starts. every Player buys a car or every second... 80player 40 extra cars. that means you have 40 extra cars on the map after a restart cause the normal ~200 will spawn anyway. and of course you have Player changing Servers and so on so you will have a lot of more cars after time on Server and the Performance will go down.

next Thing is to teach the Server he has to seperate the cars between bought and just spawned. ist not an easy Task i think.

and the Money saving in a tent would be an unfair Advantage if ist not possible to destroy or steal.
and you dont Need to tell everyone in what place you place the warchest... so just search for a good place to hide it and your fine.

you have to think about all the ways the stuff you want could work not just the way how you want to use it.

The vehicle would have to spawn with the player and persist until the server restarts. It would have to be just one vehicle per player. I know it's not easy but it is the main request that we get from players on the server.

Vehicle saving will not make it to v1, which I am planning for late June / early July, but I might implement it later on, for purchased vehicles only.

As for vehicle locking, I might add it only for when you are within 100m from your vehicle, so that noob teammates don't steal your ride when you grab some stuff at the store or a base, but it would unlock if you go past 100m, leave the server, or on server restart. Other than that, it's your job to protect your vehicles.

I will not add inventory locking or private banking of any kind. I will add the possibility to store money inside crates, but again it will be your job to protect it.

Please tell if you need help, (read targets) for testing the revive system or anything else that's hard to test with to few players. I can help out most weekends, well i guess its necessary to match your time =).

Thanks for the proposal, but for now I'm all good to test revive. I bought a second copy of the game during the weekend sale, and put back together my previous computer, so now I can test 2-player stuff mostly by myself.

This is much better than having someone help me, because I don't even have to make a PBO, I can just start the mission in-game in LAN mode from my dev folder, and it will build a PBO which is sent to my second computer, so I don't even have to restart if I make changes only for my first computer, and otherwise it only takes 2 minutes to restart everything.

Last time I tried to get external help, I spent an hour in my router settings so JoSchaap could try to see my game from the server browser, after which I gave up. If the mission is hosted on an external folder, then swapping the mission takes much more time.
