R3F Logistics v3.0

« posted: Dec 27, 2014, 12:31 AM »
Well, I suppose someone had to start this topic. Let it be me.  8)

It's not a surprise that A3W uses old R3F Logistics v2.0 and Rev was going to update it to 3.1. Since Rev is busy with working at extDB and a lot of other stuff, I think community should help Rev with poring it into A3W.
Well, basically I want to hear community opinion about it and Rev opinion of course. Can community handle it or not?

*bounties

Sure the community can handle it, if you mean erasing the current R3F v1 with over a year of edits and bugfixes and replacing it with vanilla v3 without said edits and bugfixes. *hint hint* v3 still has the 10s stuttering bug I fixed 14 months ago.

I never said you couldn't do it on your own, you're entirely free to implement v3 if that's what you want. At least one server owner has already did it, with mixed results and plenty of BE kicks.

Bounties *yey* can't wait !

I remember AR saying there were reasons you can't just port over to the new R3F ( which does look amazing ), but all in good time. The amount of customization and effort that went into the current A3W implementation of R3F has gone through a bunch of revisions and updates to ensure it is in a workable state.

Given the correct amount of time , I think AR will ensure we get the same quality integration we currently enjoy from R3F in A3W ( wow so many acronyms ).

There are a few cool looking things like creation factory and object placements, but this needs to be tested thoroughly to ensure it doesn't break the rest of the balance in A3W ^^

Rev,

Do you think you can point me to the stuttering bug you took out of the current R3F you have been talking about that is still in r3f 3.1?

-edit-
Well r3f 3.1 kinda works out of the box. Only towing and object locking doesn't lol :)

I'm not asking your help as your time is limited. As you have stated many times. All I asked was to point me in the direction of this stuttering bug?

Towing works anyway, seems like everything works now. Now on to testing :)

I'm not refusing to provide help because of lack of time, but because I'm already gonna start working on this once bounties are done, so there is no point in me doing twice the work only because you're impatient.

For anyone interested. Here is a rough, but working implementation of R3F 3.1:
