Useful editing tools and Links

« posted: Dec 27, 2014, 10:06 AM »
I thought it might be a good idea to make a list of a few tools I use when editing my mission files. Please feel free to add any additional tools you may think useful :)

PBO Manager - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16369
This tool allows you to extract and pack your mission files.

Notepad++ - http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.7.1.html
A tool for editing your mission files.

SQF Syntax Highlighting and autocompletion for Notepad++ - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8680
Does exactly what it says , highlights code blocks and helps you trap code errors by highlighting tags  while you are editing your mission files.

CJTF 101 Editor - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=20821
A great addon for editing your mission files in Arma 3. Loading this addon will allow you to place nearly any object on the map :)

TexView 2 - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1563
This little tool lets you view .paa image files. It also lets you convert certain image types to .paa.

AgentRansack - http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/download
an Amazing search tool that can find any text, phrase or file in a folder tree. Also shows you the line numbers and allows you to edit, copy , move etc straight from the search result list. i.e. If you search for "bank" in the mission folder, it will show you all the files where bank occurs and which line number.Very useful for ensuring all your changes and additions are in the correct places ...

Feel free to drop me a pm if you are stuck with any of these :)

CREAMPIE out :)

Besides most of those i also use

GID Object Positioning System - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=21924
Allows for very exact placement of objects "in game". A benefit of this one is that you put your "sites" in their own .sqf within the mission so you don't have to touch the mission.sqf so you want to add or remove "sites" you just add them in a init file, you can also easily move your "sites" over to a new mission. Its a bit of a hassle before you get the hang of it but its worth the time if you need to do exact placement, BTW buildings placed this way will also produce loot if you have that option set.

Any of you guys got a good 3d sqm editor? I used to use the ingame biedi editor but that doesn't work anymore since a couple of updates ago.

waiting in anticipation for this ... just looks AMAZING ! I will be making some efforts to port A3W to that as soon as It's available for download.

Looks nice, but i'm not really into custom maps which require a download to play.

I am sure I'm not alone when I say I am over Stratis and Altis :P the community needs sometihng new and just porting the AiA A2 stuff over won't hack it !

Chernarus Plus is excellent and looks good on the arma 3 engine, but that again is old :) Hopefully these guys have made such an amazing map that BI will include it in Arma 3 sometime in the future !

From what I heard is that BI will release an expansion with atleast 1 new map after the marksman DLC is released.

The 3d editor still works if you use an older version like v1.30 of arma.
